I am captivated by a mystery deep, and of ancient existence.
I am terrified and exhilarated by a Being that has no beginning. That was neither created nor made, but simply is…self-sustaining; self-announcing!
This Being that I speak of is called by many names, but only by names that He alone announced Himself to be. We did not give them to Him, but were inspired to utter what was already there!
He is the Father of Lights, the Almighty—the Great I Am.
A Tamed Fire
Many refer to this Ancient Fire as God, but this “God” is far more than a Deity that we worship. He is a flaming fire of passion, and a deep abyss of mystery.
Who can know Him, I say!
He is the Breath of Life, and the Iron Justice; the Creator and the Perfecter.
Yet we ignore His infinite magnitude and mind-shattering majesty, and reject His wildness and ferocity.
We preach His love as though He measures up to our standards, but know not that He defines love by who He is.
How we have fallen to folly!
We spit and babble as though we know the Unknowable, declaring creeds that have long since lost their potency in the muck of unbelief.
Can it be? Is it possible to tame this Great Majesty?
You cannot begin to fathom the error of our ways, if you have no concept of His greatness!
Oh! How we have fallen! How we have been deceived!
These things you have done and I kept silence; You thought that I was just like you…
May we again find ourselves spent by utter wonder. May we again remember the ways of our fathers, and return to the ancient ways. Let us throw off the irons that hold us in bondage—in the bondage of ignorance and pride!
But fear not. It is not too late to repent. It is not too late to once again lift God to the height of His throne in our hearts. Our God is a merciful God, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness.
Will you, once again, let your heart and mind be shaken by His magnitude and abounding secrets?
